This
is the second painting that I made (the first is shown in the previous post) of
the interesting light effects that I saw on a morning walk in which the gaps of
light seen between branches and clumps of foliage in a screen of trees caught
my eye. What is interesting for me when I compare this painting with the
earlier version—mindful that at the time that I worked on this second version I
“hid” the former version so that my only reference was the photo that I originally
took of the subject and my somewhat fuzzy memory of the first painting—are the
clearly visible changes to the composition. In short what is important in both
paintings changed; see, for instance, the “deletion” of the tree branch at the
upper left corner.
